Orientation Week: Peer Guidance and Welcoming Program Held


Hitit University's Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, held its "Orientation Week: Peer Guidance and Welcoming Program" for students starting the new academic year on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Ethem Erkoç Conference Hall. The event was designed to introduce departmental culture, strengthen the peer support network, and help students quickly adapt to both academic and social life.

Following a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, the program began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Nuriye Büyükkayacı Duman, Head of the Nursing Department. Prof. Dr. Büyükkayacı Duman provided information about the Nursing Department's clinical collaborations and student-focused approach and wished the new students success.

Following the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serpil Yılmaz and Res. Dr. Ahu Pınar Turan gave a conference titled "The Power of Peer Support: The Key to Successful Adaptation." The presentation discussed the positive effects of peer guidance on academic success, motivation, a sense of belonging, and well-being.

The second part of the event featured a talk titled "Welcome to Your University Journey: Tips from the First Days," moderated by Prof. Dr. Nuriye Büyükkayacı Duman. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serpil Yılmaz, Dr. Lecturer Zehra Ünal, Dr. Lecturer Hatice Karabulut, Res. Dr. Fatma Yıldırım, Res. Dr. Emre Keleş, Res. Dr. Ahu Pınar Turan, and Instructor Zekeriya Lek, along with upperclassmen Yasin Tatlıoğlu, Betül Koca, and Ömer Faruk Yayla, shared their experiences with incoming students on study strategies, advising processes, preparation for clinical practice, community health activities, and participation in student societies. The program concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation and a group photo.
